Dear Herbert Muller:

Thanks for your request. I have read the article, and the truth is that I
am in full agreement with the basic line that it presents. However, I do
not see that in this context I have much to say by way of commentary.
Since the author cites my recent article in JCS, let me take the liberty
of noting that a much more comprehensive of my non-orthodox
philosophical (as distinct from just phenomenological) view of some
of these issues is presented in my book 'The representational and the
presentational' (1993) in which I argue at length against the
information processing, representational-symbolic view of
psychology. Instead, I suggest to define the psychological domain
as the domain of the consciousness and of meaning, that is - of
meaningful experience. Now I am working on a book that further
develops these ideas.

Let me use this opportunity to thank you for the interesting and
thought provoking material of the Jaspers Forum. I have let several of
my students know of it as well.

With best wishes, Benny Shanon
