CULTIVER LE JARDIN

After East and West
the only twain that matters
is the gender one.

In pre-history
when men (duh) first got to know
where babies come from
they Stepped In, Took Charge.
And friend, the world has never
been the same again.

For millennia
countless generations of
naive young women
were married into
some other community
and had to endure
being the lowest
figure on the totem pole.
It wasn't easy.

They coped. Women do
that way learning to behave
giving no offense
all the while biding
their time and bringing up their
babies lovingly.

I will be darned if
Chuangtze isn't the way they
put this together
Chuangtze-come-lately
eventually launching
his philosophy
to provide a Yin
for the Confucian Yang in
a Buddhist context.

Typical of men
to acquire the best they know
and then invent it.
