I believe that Ellis does not understand that MDR (Maya?) is all we (humans)
have and he seems to think that the MIR concept refers to such reality;
as you point out:
'The traditional view is to regard the universe as mind-independent, that
is as metaphysically (absolutely) real.'
Although your idea about the matrix and Henkel's perfectly symmetric sphere
try to conceptualize or visualize MIR, I think that MIR is ineffable for
human observers. However, for all practical purposes it is as if MIR did
not exist. I even wonder if any further attempts to understand MIR are fruitful
or useful. I would like to know if that is what you meant when you said:
'(nor is MIR possible)' in: 'I agree with this statement but do not think
that it has to do with MIR; it does not require MIR _(nor is MIR possible)_.
