[Attila] "Definition 1: an existent is regarded as an ultimate reality, if it is autonomous and universal. A reality is regarded as autonomous, if it is not reducible to other realities. A reality is regarded as universal, if it extends to the whole Universe, if it is possible to show that its existence is not limited in space and time."

[Serge] Having constructing Nonstatanalysis (a specific meta-theoretical system) I've formulated the aim to show that all phenomena belong to one Reality, or that there are no "parallel realities" (see [1]).

[Attila] "Therefore, to make the first step, we should consider the old and still unsolved question: is biology reducible to physics?"

[Serge] Unlike Bunge, I state that the "marriage" between physics and biology is not effective because those two disciplines have developed principally different methodologies in reference to their objects of study. So, I go another way when proposing the new paradigm of inter-disciplinary investigations as new, self-sufficient scientific discipline which has its own particular methodology and its own objects of study.

[Attila] "... how should we mean the term "objective"?"

[Serge] The Applied ADC theory answers this question in such a way: if two (or several) intellectual products are the elements of the same DIS-model, then the aims and <criteria of approach>, used when constructing of those products, where determined objectively (see [2]). The intellectual product whose both aim and criteria of approach are objective is named Science.

[Attila] "These formulations demonstrate that in practice scientific materialism is a monist view ignoring completely the autonomy of any other ontological levels."

[Serge] Here is a excerpt from my Second target article (see [3]):
"Carrying out the process of cognition in the A-space and regarding only the 1st systemic characteristic of the IIS{Reality} we inescapably arrive at the fixed form of monism, namely - idealism. In general, all possible variants are arranged in Table 1:

[Attila] "We may regard the action principle as being the ultimate principle of matter (and physics). We may use this recognition for formulating an exact notion of matter: Definition 2: Material behaviour is shown only when a process follows the laws of physics and only the laws of physics. Material behaviour is ultimately determined by the action principle of physics."

[Serge] Or, in Nonstatanalysis' terms: material behavior is shown only when some process is formalized in the A-type of cognitive space using DEC-model where the laws of Physics are valid.

[Attila] "Definition 1': any existent is regarded as an "ultimate reality", if it is based on a universal and ontologically irreducible ultimate principle"

[Serge] I may call the integrated information system (IIS) as some kind of an "ultimate reality", since, according to the Postulate (see [1], [3]), any IIS obeys some strictly determined principles. So, I am disposed to regard Definition 1 as a step towards the formulation of the Postulate of the existence of the integrated information system.

[Attila] "How is it possible that living organisms can act reasonably, and a thirsty horse can find the river without any confusion of the inner chemical reactions of her/his organism?"

[Serge] The organism must be regarded as something "whole" which is governed by the law, universal to all organisms. For example, the IIS{organism} is governed by the Law of IIS' development.

[Attila] "Already the increase of the number of constituents in itself increases the degrees of freedom. For example, the Sun has a practically infinite degree of freedom, since it consists of more than 1056 particles."

[Serge] In Nonstatanalysis, the systems of three degrees of freedom (every IIS is described by the three universal systemic characteristics), being formalized in B-space using DIS-model, constitute a <very big but necessarily limited chain> (an ensemble) of such systems. So, according to my conclusions, there cannot be systems with infinite number of the degrees of freedom.

[Attila] "But it was observed that protein molecules normally find other configurations within hours, sometimes within a millisecond. This contradiction is known as the Levinthal paradox. There is no known solution for this paradox (Callender et al., 1994)."

[Serge] There will be no paradox if to look at the protein molecules not as upon the mere material bodies but as the IISs{protein molecule}, which, according to the Postulate, are being governed by the Law of IIS development.

[Attila] "I regard sensitivity as the real fundamental specification of life. Without sensitivity life would not be worthwhile to be lived. Sensitivity is based on our connections with our internal and outer sources of information."

[Serge] A machine can be constructed that is much more sensitive than any bio-object. In my view, the main difference between human and machine is that machine can only process incoming information, but human can process and conceptualize it too. We may realize in practice the idea of feed-backs when constructing the machine, but to construct, say, Artificial Intelligence, we have to realize in practice four types of cognitive loops, inherent to bio-object's cognitive activity (see [1], [4], Figure 7a "Types of cognitive loops") -- albeit it is not an easy task. So, <sensitivity> and <processing&conceptualization of information> are not the same things.

[Attila] "Without having access to any source of information life is not possible." (p. ). "If we want a real, manifested life, we need actions based on processed information."

[Serge] It is compatible with my approach since I regard bio-organism as a complex mind-body system, which, being formalized as the IIS{bio-organism}, is being described by the first (informational) systemic characteristic as well (see [1]).

[Attila] "A material organism has a kind of energetics, and its energetics has to be coupled to the processes occurring in the information level."

[Serge] See [3], THEORETICAL STATEMENT for the three ways of entropy reduction inherent to any bio-organism.

[Attila] "The Sun is shown to be in an ultra-sensitive state in its basic activity phenomena, selectively amplifying some of its inner and outer perturbations."

[Serge] Albeit I believe that the ultra-sensitivity is not a sign of a living object yet, all the same I like this conclusion.

[Attila] "The photospheric patterns of the Sun show the presence of a yet unknown ordering factor (Grandpierre, 1984; Saniga, 1992a,b, 1993, 1996)."

[Serge] If to formalize the Sun as the IIS{Sun}, then this ordering factor may be the Law of IIS development. Or, putting other words round, such a <cognitive frame of reference> (CFR) may be found in which the Sun may be regarded as a living object.

[Attila] "One has to realize that the innermost activity of our internal world is not easy to grasp by an outer consideration."

[Serge] It is mainly because of the Principle of Cognitive Indeterminacy (see [3], or [5]). This Principle in a natural way hampers the possibility to obtain the objective data in consciousness studies.

[Attila] "Therefore, the idea that every event has a kind of cause (or, if we prefer, a kind of general determination) now leads us to a fourfold causal structure of the world, to the recognition of material, biological, conscious and self-conscious causes. The fourfold causal structure of the world may be in some relation to the Aristotelian Four Causes (Aristotle, 1966)."

[Serge] In my theory, the <inter-system interaction of the integrated information systems> is being taken for the one universal cause of all events and processes which happen in Reality (see [1], [3]).

[Attila] "... life cannot be produced from mere inanimate matter, without the active role of the life principle"

[Serge] As to me, the life and the matter co-exist from the very start.

[Attila] "Biological, and conscious, mental causes should be real agents and initiate material effects.." Second: "Now the "hard question" surfaces again: how can a spiritual principle exert a material effect? "

[Serge] As it follows from my theory, a change produced in the IIS-model of some real process may exert an influence upon that process.

[Attila] "Actually, it is not known any factual measurement or experiment in which the material influence of consciousness was measured."

[Serge] On experiments with Nelli Kulagina was established that she could disseminate the laser beam, she could move small bodies like match boxes, she could produce a scorch on the experimentalist's skin, etc. Besides this, the microphone set near her hands registered short ultrasonic impulses (source: Alexander Taratorin http://lib.ru/ZHURNAL/istoria.txt).

[Attila] "In both of these cases, the question arises: where does the ability of matter to exert influences come from if its material substance remains constant?"

[Serge] It is perfectly not the ability of a matter but the property of an integrated information system to take part in the inter-system interactions with similar systems. The above mentioned question cannot be answered until we accept some new <theoretical base of the process of cognition> constructed on the basis of some new meta-theory (like Nonstatanalysis, for the one).

[Attila] "Doing this, they [atoms] transcended the laws of physics and developed the realms of biology and psychology. The fact that it is possible to describe a phenomenon mathematically does not imply that the entity realizing the phenomenon is dead"

[Serge] Any atom may be formalized as the IIS{atom} and, consequently, be regarded as conscious, since any IIS is being described by the first (informational) characteristic as well. As to Mathematics, I state that the formal logics cannot be applied in the <B type of cognitive space>, or its application is restricted to the <A-space>. The same are conclusions concerning the applicability of the laws of Physics (see [1], [4], Figure 11).

[Attila] "Now we obtain an important insight to the nature of this riddle: the physical laws develop as a consequence of phenomena very similar to that of the human world: inner motivations, inner principles are their ultimate movers"

[Serge] This idea is compatible with the Second basic idea of Nonstatanalysis (see [1]) which says that for the process of cognition to be possible, the laws of cognition (and consciousness) and the ultimate laws that govern all Reality must be identical. Such, for example, is the Law of IIS development.

[Attila] "One may observe that materialism when attempting to cut down any spirituality from the universe, it cuts away itself from being able to understand the origin of physical laws"

[Serge] A great thought!

[Attila] "Even the apparently inanimate world of physics shows up as being animate on long timescales and having a kind of pre-human consciousness in its basic organization.."

[Serge] Our forbears believed that the Sun, the Earth, the animals as well as everything around them, was the thinking creatures (see [3], Table 2b "The information-systemic modeling of the religious systems").

CONCLUSIONS
It was a real pleasure for me to read the paper. This time I have found a lot of ideas that closely link our two approaches, for the only exception of the problem of <sensitivity> as a determinative feature of the living object.
