Concerning your statement :

"at this time we cannot separate whatever is assumed to be out there from our constructions"

it seems to me that this question disappears once we acknowledge that ("out-there") MIR constructions are our doing. I would think that this is less a logical argument than a consideration of basic assumptions.

With respect to the two gentlemen you mention in your comment, it might be of interest to have them participate in this discussion. It might turn out, though, that they are less interested in discussion than in teaching.
