DEFINITION OF COMMON SENSE

I read a study by Dr. Roulette Smith on common sense, and I am very much intrigued by it. What I most would like to know is this:

How do you define common sense ? How do you know people have it ? And, could they conceal it (less likely fake it, I presume) for a variety of reasons?
